The Very Rough Draft
When Canyon Creek Engineering and I first discussed the possibility of designing some business cards for the employees, they had a vision in mind: A peaceful, calm, canyon with a blue river flowing through it. They wanted something that would bring tranquility to their clients. A peace of mind, but at the same time, they wanted it to look professional and bold.
They drew up a rough draft of their vision and asked if I could do something like that.
The First Four
These were my first four concept designs. I designed one to be very abstract, one to be very simple, and another just a more complex style of their rough draft. I also designed a simple backside for the cards; however, they just wanted a plain backside.
They ended up liking the bottom card and wanted me to add more shadows, textures, and colors.
Textures, Colors, and Gradients
I added some texture to the cliffs and gradients to the sky and river. I also added a foregound to make it seem like you stumbled upon this relaxing and cool place.
They liked it, but wanted the cliffs to be a bit more realistic.
The Final Card
For the final draft I added some texture into the cliffs and river. I added more color in the foreground and added more depth to the scene so the trees get smaller as they get further out.
